- make appointment with a Justice of the Peace for March 1st – DONE. Hendrik already called Judge Barbara Bembry who will marry us at 4pm on Thursday
- apply for marriage license at least 72 hours before the day/time – DONE. We went to the County Clerk office today around lunch time. We only needed to bring our drivers licenses and $41 in cash. We filled a one page application form, and within 10 minutes we got our license ! It’s good for 30 days but there’s a 3 day waiting period
- reserve Buca di Beppo for celebration dinner with NI Motion Control Group Wednesday night 2/28 6.30pm for 20 adults + 6 children – DONE
- reserve Sushi Sake for celebration dinner with friends Thursday night 3/1 6pm for 15 people – DONE
we didn’t even include any of my friends or old friends from
college.. and we already have 40 people.. I guess we could have a
real wedding reception if we want to .. but naaah … we had no time to prepare :p and I don’t like doing anything
"setengah-setengah" .. I’d rather have 1 nice & well organized
reception than 2 so-so ones… actually in our case we already have 2
parties (Bandung + Yogyakarta) planned for Indo.. so why should I
bother to do another one here ? :p
- wedding cake - honestly I wasn’t even thinking to get a cake considering how casual and informal our dinner is, but our friend Kathy offered to make us one. Just now I chatted with her to discuss what we want. This is the inspiration cake .. and the flavor will be Dark Chocolate Rapsberry Truffle can’t wait to see how it turns out. it will be 2 tiered instead of 3 because we don’t have that many people to eat it :p
- wedding bands – we ordered a pair of wedding bands but it didn’t turn out good.. poor workmanship .. plus it really doesn’t look good with my engagement ring, it’s also too wide for me, and hendrik’s ring is too big ( this one is his fault.. he didn’t know how to use the ring sizer) so I’m going to return them for a refund.. if we have time this week I’ll drag Hendrik to one of the local jeweler..
this is the model that we ordered, and this is what we got
the yellow gold line is not even (nggak rata tuh garis nya tipis tebel gitu) !! plus i just don’t like it on my finger … so i’m sending them back.

I could never count on Hendrik to send me pictures (if there are more than just a few) over the internet, so.. finally tonight I got to see and download + upload about 200+ pictures that we took back in December and January … so here goes..
15 Dec 2006, Indianapolis, Saturday morning before we went to Purdue
that night @ Meggie’s graduation dinner
Sunday 16 Dec 2006, Meggie’s graduation day
24 Dec 2006 – inside our LAX-NRT flight .. hehe seated at World Business Class
so I just had to take some pictures :p .. I slept for most of the duration of the flight.. didn’t feel like 11 hours at all

in Bandung, I didn’t take many pictures .. actually almost none of myself.. but I took a lot of pictures of my cousins and Choco
meet Stanley, Jocelyn, and Shawn .. my next door cousins :p .. Jocelyn has this natural curly hair that I think is just so cute !!

and a lot of more of them here.. plus there’s Steven and Shirley (first row below), both of whom I just saw for the first time this last trip home.. Shirley was still in her mom’s tummy the previous year hehe and Steven I just somehow didn’t get a chance to meet last time.
ok now some pictures from my trip to Yogya .. 5-7 January 2007
well we only took pictures in Borobudur and at the hotel

my aunt, mom, grandma, and Hendrik’s mom
and this last collage is of Mt. Merapi, which looks so beautiful in picture.. but I wasn’t there when this picture was taken
oh yeah.. the Yogya pictures were taken using our new digital SLR camera, Nikon D40 :p notice the difference in quality ? Neither of us had time to learn about the different features yet .. we just used it as if we’re using a regular point and shoot camera heheh but the pictures already came out great !
alright .. now back to watching the Oscars

Yesterday the HR director told me that I’m not eligible for any kind of extended leave because I’m a temporary visa holder .. this is written in the policy document.. darn it.. but anyways getting an extended leave was more of a safety net thing for me.. so I was prepared and not really expecting much :p
Well.. so I was told if I’m set on moving to TX and going back to school, then a resignation is my only option. … I now need to prepare a formal resignation letter and decide on my last day of work. I told my boss I’ll submit the letter after I come from Austin… so it should be more than 2 weeks notice
Letter content :
1. intention to leave .. effective date
2. reason / explanation
3. positive aspects of working here + thank you
I’ve started writing a draft but it’s so hard to put together my reasons hehehe of course the main reason is because of marriage.. but I also want to put MBA in there.. however.. I am not accepted yet by the school !! And actually I probably won’t know until after I move to Austin.. and at the end of the letter I also want to put that I am open to the possibility of coming back in the future with my newfound knowledge & experience hahaha so it has to flow nicely…..but I don’t want to dwell into too much details hehe Need to keep it formal and straightforward. Anybody can help me here ?
aaahh tonight I gotta pack 2 big luggages.. because tomorrow night I’m flying out to Austin for a week to get hitched hehehe
Accidentally found this interesting website : livejournal and website and links to other bento bloggers hehe it still amazes me each time I find a new kind of blogger community
It makes me want to try preparing a bento box lunch for Hendrik.. hmm maybe I’ll get a chance to do that soon :p But of course I won’t preparing anything fancy like this picture —>
That’s a special Lunar New Year bento :p
On the website, I saw Spam Musubi .. never heard about it before but apparently it’s a very popular snack in Hawaii and you can find them everywhere, even in 7-11’s. Just google it. Looks very simple, hmm I’ll put that on my to-try recipe list :p.
Still in the "interesting food" category.. have you seen a cubic egg ? or a hello kitty egg ? a star shaped egg ? teddy bear, car, rabbit egg ?.. I never knew that hardboiled egg can be molded hehe
These cute molds are available on ebay .. hmm thinking of getting one myself.

A few weeks ago I went for my routine bi-annual tooth cleaning and exam. It was my first cleaning sans braces. I haven’t had any problem ( toothache, cavity, etc. ) for a while.. actually the whole 2 years I was in braces, I only visited the dentists for routine exams and cleanings only.
But this time my dentist said there’s a cavity under the filling of one of my molars.
He said I need to get a dental crown on that tooth. It’s tooth #19.
So this morning I got a temporary crown put in. I have to go back to the dentist in 2 weeks to get my permanent crown. I didn’t see what the temporary looks like until after I got back to the office. Guess what .. the color is metallic golden / copper huehehe. So now I have a gold tooth in my mouth. Luckily the permanent one will be tooth-colored. I am sure because the dental assistant tried to find a shade that matches my other teeth.
Btw Hendrik never has any tooth cavity in his life, ever. His mouth is free of dental fillings. I guess if your parents were dentists too, they’d paid extra attentions to their kids’ dental hygiene, huh ?

A few weeks ago I gave a 60-day-notice to move out to my apartment rental office. The move out date I put down was April 1st. This morning the manager called to confirm this date since they have some people waiting to move in… they’re ready to rent my apartment to somebody. It suddenly hit me that April 1st is coming really soon. Next weekend I’m going to Austin for a week. When I come back it’s already March 5th. I basically have 5 full weeks left to finish off my projects at work. Can I really do it ? Even though my boss and coworkers know that I’m leaving, I haven’t set my last day yet… because I was still unsure about my projects. I’ve been telling people that my target is to close them in March… but can I really accomplish that goal ?
I want to move asap but I don’t want to leave unfinished work. Moreover I am very close to getting my 6sigma blackbelt certification, it will be such a waste of my last 2 years if I leave without finishing my projects.
I called Hendrik to ask for his opinion. He suggested to postpone my move out date to end of April. No way! I don’t think I want stay here that long, plus I’m sure that I’ll be out of work to do by mid April. Actually end of March is about right, if everything goes smoothly everything should be done in March… but that means the next few weeks will be very busy for me… My procrastinator self should not interfere.
So I decided I’ll stick with my original plan. I called my rental office to postpone my move out date by 1 week to April 8th. That should be good enough.. If I’m done with my project by end of March I’ll have about a week to tie up any loose ends, and also to sell my furnitures, pack, and ship my stuffs. Hendrik will buy a one-way-ticket to Indiana and we’ll drive my car to Austin. I need to stay with this date since Hendrik has classes the following weekend.
