Since more than 1 person has asked me for K-drama recommendation … here goes..

My Girl – my rating : Must Watch !!! :)
Mygirl

This is the first K-drama that I watch this year :) actually the first one in months..

I’m not done with it yet.. but as usual it’s very addicting and it’s really good! Actually it’s still very new.. just finished airing in Korea in the beginning of this month … but it’s already available for download in d-addicts with English subs! hehehe I love d-addicts !

I just chose to download this drama among the many new dramas available because I saw that all of the episodes had a lot of seeders.. meaning I know I could get a complete set in 2-3 days :) and I did hehe then I also noticed that the thread discussing this drama has 1900+ t replies compared with the average of 100-300.. so I thought this must be a really good one ! ^_^

pig out weekend

My diet is ruined AGAIN. I spent the weekend in Chicago with Meggie & Tin2.. this is the trip I’ve promised Tin2 since last October :)   .. our last get-together before she goes home for good in April.  To sum up the 2 days,  we pretty much just ate, ate, and ate.  Oh.. and it was a freezing weekend ..  -17°C !! and I was wearing a pair of sandals!!

First stop on Saturday was "Little" Three Happiness for a dimsum lunch. The food was very good and cheap :D hehehe.. We actually had to force ourselves to finish the last 3 portions .. we ordered too much ! We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the bill.  I think the last time we had dimsum in Phoenix we spent twice as much and didn’t feel as fulfilled :D   I was planning to take pictures of the food haha but I forgot about it as soon as I saw the food :)

Then we went to the Chicago Auto Show in McCormick Place. Good show, but nothing spectacular. I’ll post pictures as soon as I got them from Tin2. The place was so huge that we got lost on our way out.  I picked up several brochures to give to Lung2 this weekend :p hehe while I’m dreaming to get a Jaguar for my next car.. just the X-type.. their lowest type :p hehe hmm my Accord is already 5 years old now.. is time to upgrade ? :)

Cars

We thought we weren’t gonna have enough room for an all-you-can-eat sushi after that dimsum… but after 3 hours walking around the auto show + another hour of window shopping in Mich Ave.. our stomachs were ready again :) hehehe

Thanks to the driving direction from my reliable friend Mpenk :)   .. we could find Sushi Para II on Clark St.  The place was tiny but crowded.. there were 2 groups waiting for their tables before us.. so we waited about 40 minutes for our table .. it’s already about 10PM at this point.. but it’s all worth it.

Sushi

Although when we woke up, the airbed was flat on the floor, we still slept verrry long :p  Woke up just in time for lunch :)   Stopped by for a quick lunch in Wonton Gourmet.. -their food never fails me-… then a quick stop at Mitsuwa.. another quick stop in Chinatown’s Joy Yee’s for bubble drinks .. and last stop at Captain Bakery.

I think I have enough food now to last until Thursday.. and Friday morning I’m off to Seattle  :)

V-day just another day

I have so many ( at least 3 ) topics that I’ve started writing about and intended for this blog :p hahaah but always in middle got distracted and never really finished …  I’ve also haven’t been following other bloggers’ life for a while now :p  .. hehe I guess I’ve just been on a long vacation from the blogging world :p

Anyways.. today’s a special day for a lot of people in this world.. but for me ? nothing’s different from yesterday or tomorrow..  :) I woke up really early to prepare for an 8AM meeting that I was facilitating.. driving from one building to the next .. Right now I’m back in my desk (still work hours) .. but this is the 3rd building I’ve been to for work today..

I’ve talked to Hendrik a couple times.. almost no mention of V-day :p  other than we’re just joking about what we’re buying each other.. where in fact we don’t give each other ANYTHING :p .. ehehehe  last night I left him a voicemail asking whether he’s received "the gift" :)   I didn’t get him anything actually hahahahaha..  For a second he probably was expecting something from me hahaha but I told him the truth right away.. Of course he was totally fine with it since he also doesn’t get ME anything :p  This is our 7th Valentine together..  so yeaah it’s just another day for us ^_^

Then I read Vanessa’s post on her blog.. hahaha I agree with her wholeheartedly.. I don’t know how many people have asked me if Hendrik’s coming over for Valentines. Or what special thing we’re going to do … I’m tired of answering "Ermmmm nothing"   When I told Hendrik that people think he should have flown in for this special day.. his response was "Do they think I don’t have a job ?" :D   hehe  Well well.. this is what it’s like after dating this long ..

Having said all that… Happy Valentine’s Day people! :D

Hail Purdue !

I just purchased the Premium Online Edition of USNews America’s Best Colleges 2006  .. I’ve always wanted to see the full content of these rankings each year.. but the free edition really didn’t show much…These days my brother is thinking about which university should he target to transfer to..and I also have other cousins who might want to know these information later.. so I thought this is a good time to buy the premium access…

I also just came back from a weekend in Purdue. I attended the annual Purdue Society of Women Engineers (SWE) awards banquet. The key speakers noted how Purdue’s ranking has climbed in the past few years :p..  So I just checked out the report and saw that it’s true :D Oh another interesting statistic that I learned today is that Purdue has graduated more female engineers than any other university in the nation (maybe in the world too? :p)…

so here’s a  quick summary of the college rankings..sometimes more than 1 school are at the same rank ..

2006 Best Undergraduate Business Program
1.  U Penn (Wharton)
2.  MIT (Sloan)
3.  UC Berkeley (Haas) & U Mich Ann Arbor
5.  Carnegie Mellon, NYU (Stern), U NC-Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler), UT Austin (McCombs)
9.  USC (Marshall), U Virginia (McIntire)
11. IU Bloomington (Kelley)
12. Cornell, Purdue U (Krannert), UI Urbana-Champaign, U Minnesota (Carlson), U Wisc Madison, Washington U in St Louis

7-8 years ago, I think Purdue’s business program was far behind of IU’s. It’s a clear choice in Indiana that if you want to study business, go to IU, and choose Purdue if you are going for an Engineering degree… but now we’re very close :p

2006 Best Engineering Program
1.  MIT
2.  Stanford & UC Berkeley
4.  Cal Tech & U Illinois Urbana-Champaign
6.  Georgia Tech & U Michigan Ann Arbor
8   Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Purdue U
11. UT Austin, U Wisconsin Madison

wow.. i feel a little proud now as an engineer alumni :)   I didn’t expect Purdue’s Engineering program is comparable to that of CMU or Cornell… we even rank higher that UT Austin now :D

2006 US Top Schools
1. Harvard & Princeton
3. Yale
4. University of Pennsylvania
5. Duke & Stanford
7. Cal Tech & MIT
9. Columbia & Dartmouth

..
..
.
60. Purdue University :D

As a whole (all programs), Purdue is ranked the 60th in the country… this is also a significant jump  because not too long ago  Purdue was a 2nd Tier school (not listed in the Top 100+), which was still not bad at all considering how many universities there are in the country…..

More rankings of Purdue within the Engineering specialty :
Aerospace / Aeronautical / Astronomical -  4th
Agricultural – 2nd
Chemical – 13th
Civil – 7th
Computer – 11th
Electrical – 9th
Environmental – 17th
Industrial / Manufacturing – 2nd
Materials – 12th
Mechanical – 7th
Nuclear – 4th
